Many housewives are wondering whether it is necessary to iron the bedclothes - their own and the child's. It all depends on your desire and availability of free time. But almost all of our mothers and grandmothers tried to bleach the linen, refreshing it, starch it and iron it so that the bed looks neat.

The bedroom is your personal space. Therefore, it is important to take care of creating comfort and coziness in advance. Today on sale there are synthetic bedding sets that practically do not wrinkle, as well as sheets and duvet covers made of "wrinkled" cotton fabric, which are enough to wring out and hang to dry. But if you choose bed linen made of natural smooth fabric, it is better to master the rules of express ironing in order to spend a minimum of time and effort on this. Surely in such a bed you will be pleased to rest!

How to iron bed linen: basic rules

Ironing of bed linen is not only a guarantee of aesthetics, but also additional heat treatment. It helps to destroy dust that has gotten between the threads during tissue drying, as well as to eliminate harmful bacteria and microbes that can cause an inflammatory process in the skin.

If you are ready to iron the bedding for yourself and your child, go through your pajamas and nightgowns at the same time. You will need:

  • Stable ironing board.
  • Reliable iron without limescale and damage on the sole.
  • Slightly damp bedding.

You can pour purified water into the iron reservoir - in case you need to iron the seams additionally or steam out the crumpled corner of the duvet cover. Do not try to iron completely dry bedding - waste a lot of time and effort.

If you have cotton fabrics, start from the right side, smoothly moving the iron along the entire length. Difficult places can be steamed. For silk, the opposite tactic will be required: a thin sensitive fabric is ironed only from the inside out at the minimum mode. Terry fabrics are not ironed: it is enough to dry them properly, hanging them over the entire width of the products.

Do not wrinkle the fabric immediately after ironing while it is still warm and slightly damp. Let it cool down for a while (up to half an hour) and dry completely.

The ironed sheets and duvet covers can be neatly laid out on the sofa or bed, moving on to new accessories. Try to set the ironing mode correctly using the regulator on the iron.

Try not to use a spray bottle. The holes in it are too large, so instead of moisturizing the fabric well, you may end up with ugly stains and streaks.
